Hoover vs Gardendale

Tonight Hoover had their first official game. Gardendale scored first and we fumbled and we all began to get a little nervous. Then we decided to show up and intercepted and took the score up quickly. The score ended with it being 27-7. It was a good game but stinkin hot! Keri came to support Matt and loved screaming "Hey Coach Howard" when he came by heading to the pressbox.
We lined up for the Buc Walk as the players came out.
The cute Niblett girls--Cassidy and Harper.

Sad Day

The last 24 hours has been very sad for our family. My parents got a call last night about 8:45 saying that my grandma's house was on fire. We fly over to find her sitting across the street at the neighbors house watching her house burn. It was the most terrible sight. Let me share with you the blessing in all of this. My grandma goes to bed pretty early and was already asleep when the neighbor walked outside and saw smoke and flames coming from the attic. He runs to the door and begins to pound on it to get her awake. My grandma doesn't live in the greatest of neighborhoods and doesn't open the door for anyone. God obviously put a stir in her heart to see who it was. She had enough time to change her clothes, grab her purse, and get out before the house was up in flames. God is so good!!! We just praise Him that the guy was able to get her up. My grandmother has lived in this house for 50+ years, so to her it feels like her whole life is over.

We went early this morning to see if there were things that could be saved. We were able to save some of her photo albums and a few other very special things to her. Everything else is pretty burned up. Please say a prayer for her and for my dad as he bears the responsibility to take care of the details with all of this now. "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles..."
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
The back of the house, where they believe the fire started.
This is from the den looking into the dining room. We were able to save some of her china that she has had for 50 something years.
This is the kitchen. The Fire Chief said the floor was not safe here, so we couldn't go into the kitchen. Speaking of the Fire Chief, after all the paperwork was complete last night, he prayed with my grandma. It was such a blessing that a Godly man was there last night.
The dining room, where we had many Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners.
My mom is trying to save this picture that we found on the floor. It's a picture of my dad when he was about 6 years old that always hung on the wall.

Put Me In Coach

What a rainy day it has been. Matt, Keri, and myself had planned to go to the lake this morning but, when we got up it was such a mess. So we have been entertaining ourselves with some interesting things today. We ended our little adventure with a trip to Academy sports and Matt was dying for us to try on some football pads. Keri put her game face on in this one, she's ready! If teaching fails, I can always try out modeling with football equipment.

First Game

Hoover had their first game last night. It was was a jamboree game against Gadsden. I made the trek with a few of the coaches wives and we had a fun time supporting the Bucs. The JV played first and won 8-0 and the Varsity won 8-3. It was a good game! The team running through this enormous sign the cheerleaders made.

These are the Niblett girls. On the left is Harper and the right is Cassidy. I rode with the them to the game and let me tell you there was not a dull moment with the two of them and Harpers younger brother, Sky.
Good game Coach! I grabbed Matt for 2 seconds to take a picture after the game.
On the way to the car. This is Kristin (Coach Kurvin's wife), Cassidy and her mom and my dear friend, Paige.

Football Weekend

We have had a football filled weekend. Last night we went over to one of the coaches house and they had all the Offensive Linemen over for dinner. It's been a while since I have been around a bunch of high school boys--that was interesting. Matt would not let me get the camera out for this event. This morning the whole team went to Hunter Street- it was great to see all the players and coaches sitting together at church. Today was Hoover Buc Fan Day at the Galleria. The band played and the cheerleaders cheered at the players and coaches came in. It was a fun day to pump everyone up for football season.
All the players and coaches signed autographs.
Mom and Keri even stopped by for the festivities.
Coach Howard and the ole wiffey.. I must go to these events so I can actually see my husband.
I even got my football signed by the coach. Yippy!!

Visit With The Bouchillons

Our fun family, the Bouchillons, were in town from South Carolina this weekend. What a fun time we had at the lake. We love some Bouchillons. We played on the water all day yesterday and ended the day with a little dance party (Matt is killer with some Michael Jackson). We did some AirHead Race, kneeboarding, wakeboarding, and skiing. They also got to play Friday, but we had to go to school...if only summer wasn't over. We figured we probably shouldn't take off the 2nd day of school. Fun times with the fam.

First Day of School

Well, we made it through the first day of school and the second day too. This is Matt after his first day. We both seem to have a good group of students. I have 8th grade this year and I only got told one time to get to class. I have to remember to wear my badge since I look like I am 15. So the first 2 days were great and well I guess we will go back again this week.

Shout Out To My Man

This week has been a little crazy with starting new jobs, moving here, and getting lots of paperwork filled out. Matt surprised me one day with beautiful flowers. He knew I was starting to get a little overwhelmed with all that was going on and it was just what I needed. God has blessed me with such an amazing husband who is constantly putting my needs before his. He is too good to me!

This was Saturday night before heading to the wedding of one of Matt's good buddies and roommate from college.

My Classroom

After church I needed to bring a few last boxes and things to my classroom. Matt had football meetings all afternoon, so I recruited my mom, dad, and sister to sacrifice their afternoon to put in some time working in my classroom. Good thing they ate their chocolates this morning, because it was tough. I couldn't have finished it up without them, and I really appreciate their help. School starts tomorrow and the kids start coming Thursday. Mom and Dad working hard on a bookshelf that sweet hubby started putting together but had to go to practice-- we missed you matty!
I just get so excited about border paper--not really, just trying to lighten the mood.
The finished product--and mom decorated it so cute!!
Keri and I worked so hard on this bulletin board. Keri is such a natural with butcher paper and borders.
It's time to go home because these 3 were pooped. I worked them pretty hard today. Thanks fam!
