Memorial Day Weekend

It was the first official weekend of summer and I couldn't have asked for anything better. We were at the lake, time with family and friends, and lots of memories were made.

We headed out of town as soon as we could Friday afternoon. This little guy couldn't wait to get to the lake and they watched the boats go by until dark.

These two are a mess. They love to snack together. Pops sat down with the bag
and someone quickly took over.

Saturday morning it was time to head down to the pier. Just looking at this picture, I cannot believe this little guy will be three in a few months.

The water was still pretty chilly. He kept trying to stick his feet in and would say--it's cold, too cold.

We went for a boat long boat ride and enjoyed seeing all that has changed on the water since August.

The guys sported their matching "Rawlins Lakehouse" shirts. I feel so left out.

Memorial Day is not complete without our annual smores making. We let Fulton stay up for it this year and he found the bag of marshmallows and was content.

He loved it!!! This was my third marshmallow to roast. I got a little distracted with the other two and they fell off while I was talking.

Pops is showing him the proper technique.

Sunday morning we were up bright and early and ready to celebrate KK's birthday (even though it really wasn't until Monday).

Some friends came up and Fulton instantly fell in love with their daughter, Elsie. Isn't this precious? He would just listen to her and do whatever she said. I will keep reminding him of that when he gets married one day... just listen to your wife.

A little lunch date with his new buddy.

Cake time for mom!! Happy Birthday Mom!! Hope it was a special day for you. We spent the rest of the day on the water and ended with game night. I don't think my family has laughed that hard in a long time. We were literally in tears at one point playing Balderdash. We have so much fun together.

Monday was Mom's actual birthday, so we started the day with gifts.

We decided to go for a really long boat ride, stopped to see some friends, and then decided we needed to swim. The water was still chilly, but it really felt good because it was so hot that day.

Fulton loves some Kiki and Pete.

Monday afternoon we were worn out and it was time to head home. We had a great weekend and we are so thankful for the men and women who serve and have served our country to fight for our freedom. I know it's easy to take it for granted, but we are so blessed to live in the country we do. Happy Memorial Day!

End of the Year

Well, I have let two weeks go by and not posted a thing. Let's go back to two weekends ago.

Before we get to that... Matt has quite the shadow these days. This little guy wants to do whatever his daddy is doing. I came home from a meeting a church and found them cutting the grass. Matt is hoping Fulton's desire for cutting the grass stays around until he is a teenager.

Now back to two weeks ago. We had another wedding to attend. This would be the third wedding in three weeks, but I think we are done for a while. It was at Stone Bridge Farms in Cullman and it was a beautiful location.

They had some delicious food, good music, and lots of yummies on the candy bar. Someone kept getting their hands in the gummy bear section.

One afternoon we stopped by after school to get a hair cut. It was much needed and looking at this picture, we probably could have stood to cut some more off. Of course he picked a blue sucker.

Friday was our last day of school. Here is my little guy from the beginning of the year to last week. My how he has grown and learned to smile better for the camera. We obviously some Polo and plaid.

So Friday was a bittersweet day. It was my last day of full time teaching for a bit. I am taking a break and am going to be a mommy first. I am so looking forward to this season of life. I came into my classroom Friday to a surprise "Goodbye" party. My teacher friends are the absolute best. I will surely miss these sweet people.

So I packed up my room and said my goodbyes. I hope to come back to full time teaching one day, but for now I will teach preschool a few days a week when Fulton goes. God is so gracious to us to allow us this opportunity. I am looking forward to it.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! But first there were a few other events this weekend.

Saturday morning we met Matt's mom and stepdad for a little brunch and to celebrate Mother's Day with them. I didn't get any pictures because we were too busy chasing Fulton in the restaurant. He wasn't much into sitting and socializing that morning. He had spent all his energy going through the shoe section of my closet.

I love these two guys to pieces. I am so blessed. We came home and rested up where this little fella took a 4 hour nap and it was a good thing because we had a big event to get to. Another wedding.

That shirt didn't stay tucked in long because the reception was in a beautiful area with lots of green grass to run in and swings to play on.

Oh and there was a pool too. Fulton was upset that he forgot his swimsuit.

But he brought his dancing shoes. This guy was a dancing machine. Kiki was right there with him for the cupid shuffle. I just sat at the table, watched and ate cake balls.

Now here we are at Mother's Day. You know Matt's specialty is breakfast and not just any ole breakfast. But breakfast in bed. This guy is too good to me. Homemade waffles and scrambled eggs in bed. It was delicious. And he had a little helper who was so proud to help deliver it.

We had a great lesson in our small group with the reminders of the importance of community and regular commitment to being at church. We left there filled up and headed to serve in the nursery.

We had fun at lunch with this sweet family. I have said it before but Fulton loves these girls. He even ditched sitting by his mommy at lunch and chose to sit by "the girls" as he calls them.

We came home and I was showered with sweet gifts including this little project that Matt and Fulton have been working on. Matt said Fulton's sawing skills are really improving and he did a good job sawing these pallets all the same size. Matt is so creative and seeks to make everything special for me. I will cherish this sweet hand print flower.

And for dinner we were off to sister's to celebrate with the fam. Keri and Pete made a delicious dinner for us and the company couldn't have been any better. I have some great men in my life.

And to my mom on Mother's Day--she is the best. She is a hardworking, creative, caring, beautiful, Jesus loving woman. I am thankful for her and love how she has shown through example how I should be a wife and a mother.

This little guy is pretty smitten for her as well.

He was proud of his gift to KK. What a great day to celebrate my mother and the gift God has given me to be a mother. I am so blessed to this little guy's mom. Couldn't ask for a better job in life.

Sweet Friends and Sweet Treats

It's seems I only do recaps of weekends these days. That's where most of the fun is had.

Friday night we had dinner with the Baccus fam. We visited the local Chinese buffet. Exciting huh? I have not always been a Chinese food lover, still am not, but I am trying to
partake in Matt's love for the cuisine.

Saturday was Celebrate Hoover Day. We have never been but decided we would check out the free fun they had to offer. Fulton had a ball. He jumped in every bouncy house they had to offer, went down the big kid slides, and through the obstacle courses. He has no fear.

Oh and one of the greatest parts... free apple pie and ice cream. Delicious.

Fulton's love for firetrucks was increased when he got to look inside one
and get his very own fire hat.

We enjoyed petting the animals too. There were pony rides, but no one was thrilled about standing in line an hour to ride the ponies, so we petted the bunnies instead.

It was such a fun day, but this guy was wearing down. We had to get him to KK and Pops house for a nap, because Matt and I had another event to be at.

We had a little date wedding night celebrating the marriage of Caroline and Jim. It was a perfect wedding and reception.

We were able to sit on the patio and have good conversation with sweet friends.
Love these girls in my life (and those that had already left).

This little guy fits the part. Fulton and I missed church this morning because this guy woke up not feeling so great. He ended up bouncing back later in the day, so we did some baking together, washed cars, and practiced our medical skills.
