First Day of School

We had our first day of Preschool today. Hooray it was success!!

Fulton is still officially in the 2k class because of his birthday. The cutoff for the birthday is September 1st. So he is an "old 2" for his class. I guess this will be a good thing one day because he will be older in his class, rather than the young one.

Aunt Keri gave us a special book to read last night called "The Night Before Preschool." Fulton loved it! He must have had some first day jitters because he was up rip roaring ready to go at 5:30 this morning. This is not like him.

He walked into his class like a champ. I was so proud of him. As for my first day of preschool, it was great. I was extremely worn out afterwards and kind of felt like I had been herding cattle all day, but they are precious children. Can't wait to share Jesus with these little minds.

The Last Week

Here's our life for the past week.

We came home from church last Wednesday night to this precious sight. The shelf on Matt's side of the closet fell. Oh geeze louise it was a mess. But as Matt always says, it could be worse.

Friday we met up with Laylee and Macy at Chick-fil-A for a little early celebration for Laylee's 3rd birthday. These two are just precious together. We had chicken, jumbo cookies from Edgars and some fun times on the playground. We love the Arthur Fam!

Friday night after we had dinner we went to the pool. It was perfect.

Saturday morning daddy made homemade pancakes and Fulton's were extra special. I kind of wanted some like this. Matt had a softball tournament with church guys and we had some of our mommy friends over to the pool.

Sunday morning was a great day at church.

Later that afternoon Aunt Keri came over to play and brought  us a special treat.
Blue cupcakes are the best.

We found these cardboard bricks at the thrift store for super cheap and he has played with them everyday.

I did a little project earlier this week too. I have been wanting to make a chalkboard frame and finally found a cheap frame at the thrift store. I sprayed the frame and painted the glass. My chalk writing is pretty rough and I need some chalkpaint pens, but hopefully I can improve.

We did some painting yesterday and made circle art. He has his own apron now, so
he thinks he is big stuff.

Last night we met up with the girls in our small group to celebrate a new baby. Chrissy and Danny will be welcoming a baby girl in a few short weeks. It was a great night of
fellowship with really good food.

Today has been pretty low key. We went to the pool this morning and then did a little baby sitting for our next door neighbor. Look at this precious little one. I got to snuggle with her for a bit and Fulton loved touching her piggies.

Meet the Teacher

Yesterday was Orientation/Meet the Teacher day at Fulton's new school
(which happens to be my new school too).

He already loves his teacher Ms. Juliette. She is so sweet!!! He has already been around her some since we have been up there working in my room, so I am glad he is already comfortable with her. We like to suck up, so we took her some cookies. Did I mention how awesome Aunt Keri is because she came and stood in as Fulton's parent since his orientation was at the same time as mine. Love her!!

Guess who else we got to see?? His BFF Laylee!! These two miss each other like crazy since they just about spent the first three years of their lives together. They picked right up and started wrestling on that blanket.

Hey Fulton, look we both have on green! See that sweet globe ball... yeah, they were pounding it at each other's heads. They are like brother and sister. I love it!!

He was so excited because he got to see his first ever teacher, Mrs. Vin. He misses her so much too!! Glad we got to see all our faves today. By the way, I got to meet my little ones and their sweet mommies today too. Oh my stars!! My kids are adorable!!! Five girls and 3 boys and they are the cutest!!

Family Times

The last week and a half of my life have been a little crazy and I haven't even blogged about our big family weekend at the lake which was two weekends ago.

Our family (aunt, uncle, cousins, and kiddos) all came down from South Carolina
for a weekend on the lake. Fulton and I went up with Mom and Dad Thursday night
and enjoyed an extra day.

We spent Friday at Papa's grocery store and playing on the water. All of the great grandchildren are boys and they had such a good time playing together.

We were excited when Daddy arrived Friday afternoon. Somebody's gotta work, right?!

We spent Saturday playing in the water and wearing these little fellas out.

It was so good to have everyone together!

These three were a little mischievous. We had to keep an eye on them.

Grill master Matt cooked some delicious steaks Saturday night.

Our family prepared the meal that night and these two were slaving away in the kitchen.

We took a painless family picture while everyone was there together. Our family
sure has grown in the last few years.

We attempted a great grandchildren picture with Mema and Papa, but you can see how well that went. At least Mema and Fulton were looking at the camera.

These two are best buds these days.

Fulton enjoyed some time with Greg and Ann too, despite the look on his face.
It was a great weekend spent with sweet family!

Winding Down

So summer is winding down, but is sure has been fun.

Matt had his first day of school almost 2 weeks ago and here he is looking sharp before heading out the door. Speaking of school... my part time preschool teaching job started up last week and I am loving it. I am in totally new territory and learning the ropes, but having so much fun being home with Fulton more and getting my classroom ready for these little ones. More on that later.

So, while Matt's been slaving away at work so we can eat at night, Fulton and I have been playing pretty hard. Sometimes shirtless.. him, not me.

My little buddy and I do some relaxing too. We are so incredibly blessed. This little guy challenges us, makes us laugh, and sometimes cry, but God is so good to allow us to be his parents. Matt and I attended a 2 day parenting seminar this weekend at our church and it just continued to reinforce the enormous job we have in front of us, but thankfully God is giving us the strength, patience, kindness, and gentleness to take on the task. We pray this little blond hair, blue eyed
charmer knows Jesus really soon.

Diaper Days

Our days have been filled with trips to the pool, seeing the animals at the zoo, and several playdates with friends. But there is one major milestone I failed to document. Drumroll please... we are fully potty trained. Hallelujah, sound the trumpets!!

This actually happened around the middle of June, but I realized I never documented it. Fulton had a long road of potty training. We started this process last November (a few months after he turned two.) We never did pull-ups and went straight to big boy undies with some training pants over them. He quickly got a hold of #1, but #2 took a little longer.. but we finally got that sometime in the spring. He didn't have accidents in his underwear, he would just wait and take
care of business when the diaper was on for the night.

Nightime training was a different story. He would wake up with a sopping wet diaper and I thought to myself... he will go to college still wearing these. However, I ate my words. The first week of June he woke up dry for several nights in a row. He asked to wear underwear at night and I thought sure, why not!? He hasn't looked back since. We had one wet accident at night this summer and it was a night that he slept way longer than he ever has. We are so so proud of him and how good he has done with the potty. He is a champ. And even though there were some days I thought we may never get it, I look at him now and still want to high five him after he gets off the potty. That's kind of weird isn't it?!
